Corporate Reporting
The redesign of Swisscom's Sustainability Impact Report shows how sustainability is becoming a benchmark for corporate development. At the same time, the Sustainability Report is a good example of how even the implementation of the report can be organized sustainably.
For the environment, people and our actions. The Swisscom Sustainability Impact Report - SIR for short - shows how this can be achieved. Specifically, it is about milestones, current measures, future plans and detailed analyses of operating processes, products and services that are made transparent in the report. The SIR creates long-term trust for Swisscom customers, stakeholders, supporters and partners. In this form, the Sustainability Report is much more than the fulfillment of a legal obligation.
The entire automated production process with the MDD platform is sustainable because it helps us to use resources efficiently. The time required is permanently reduced, cooperation is intensified and the individual production process developed in this way can be repeated and refined with each subsequent report.
All activities that serve sustainability at Swisscom are communicated transparently in the report and are easily accessible to readers. If we were to derive an ideal-typical procedure for the production process of reporting, it would read something like this:
Let's save time and energy through coordinated collaboration. This includes a continuous exchange with all parties involved: with clients, creative agencies and the MDD team. Close and continuous coordination creates trust within the team. Misunderstandings are avoided and defined specifications and processes are adhered to. On this basis, the automated implementation of sustainability reports works cooperatively and efficiently.
Tom Hauk, Agency Nordjungs
The people involved in the project and the communication workflow between them were crucial to the success of the Swisscom Sustainability Impact Report.
The Swisscom team was active, committed and demanding at every stage of the project.
As a creative agency, Nordjungs designed layouts that invite readers, inform them and keep their attention. The MDD team provided personal and technical support, identified direct paths at all times and coordinated the automated implementation of the sustainability report with the MDD platform.
Specific milestones for the successful reporting process were the agreement of joint design guidelines, regular layout checks, translation deadlines, content checks through draft deadlines and a final online test.
Structures and schedules were clearly defined and adhered to. In order to react quickly to changing layout requirements, it was possible to optimize the automated layout processes manually.
As a result, the Swisscom Sustainability Impact Report is easy to read thanks to its clear structure and navigation, especially in the PDF layout. Unfamiliar technical terms can be clicked on and lead directly to the glossary, where they are explained in detail. Readers enjoy this option as an added value in terms of content, just like the pictures on the front pages and in the reports. They come from various Swisscom campaigns and draw attention almost intuitively to selected sustainability topics.
Jasmin Mathys, MDD Project Management
The collaboration between the three project partners Swisscom, Nordjungs and MDD is based on 10 years of joint experience, as well as a deep technical and creative understanding that grows with each project. Against this background, the efficient creation and management of dynamic content with the MDD platform is a sustainable implementation process.
